Use a fixed machine groove to build a trunk that resists rather than folds: Lever Seated Crunch closes out a session in minutes.

How to do Lever Seated Crunch

  1. Sit on the leverage machine with your back against the pad and your feet flat on the floor.
  2. Grasp the handles or place your hands on the side pads for support.
  3. Engage your abs and slowly lean back, allowing the pad to move with you.
  4. Once your upper body is at a 45-degree angle, contract your abs and crunch forward, bringing your chest towards your knees.
  5. Pause for a moment at the top, then slowly release and return to the starting position.
  6. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.

How do you do the Lever Seated Crunch?

Sit on the leverage machine with your back against the pad and your feet flat on the floor. Grasp the handles or place your hands on the side pads for support. Engage your abs and slowly lean back, allowing the pad to move with you. Use a leverage machine and keep the movement controlled through the full range. What muscles does the Lever Seated Crunch work?

The Lever Seated Crunch primarily targets the abs. It is classified as a core exercise and is performed with a leverage machine.

How many sets and reps of the Lever Seated Crunch should I do?

For muscle growth: 4-5 sets of 6-10 reps with 60-90 seconds of rest. Control the return instead of letting the stack drop. Adjust the load rather than the rep target if form breaks down before the final rep.

Is the Lever Seated Crunch good for beginners?

Not usually. The Lever Seated Crunch is an advanced movement that assumes existing strength and joint control. Build up through easier core progressions first, then add this once the basics feel comfortable.

What can I do instead of the Lever Seated Crunch?

Try the Pelvic Tilt, Assisted Hanging Knee Raise With Throw Down or the Band Horizontal Pallof Press. Each trains the abs with a similar movement pattern, so you can swap based on the equipment you have available.

Is the Lever Seated Crunch the same as the seated lever crunch?

Yes. The Lever Seated Crunch is also commonly called the seated lever crunch or the machine seated crunch. Different gyms and training programs label it differently, but "seated lever crunch" and "machine seated crunch" refer to this same movement.
